What is Wondercrete?
Wondercrete is a concrete based resurfacing material. It is composed of Portland cement, silica sand and acrylic polymers.
How thick is it?
Wondercrete is usually applied at 1/4" thickness but can be up to 1" thick as
determined by preexisting conditions.
How do you apply Wondercrete?
The base coat or scratch coat is applied by hand with a trowel. The texture
finish or coat is sprayed on and then "knocked down" with a trowel.
What does it look
like?
It is a textured surface that is sprayed from a hopper. The texture coat covers about 80% of the base coat surface. Through the use of strapping tape during the installation process, a pattern can be achieved if desired.
What colors does it come in?
It can be stained any color desired.
What is the life expectancy of a Wondercrete application?
Wondercrete has the same life expectancy as concrete. It is actually 3 times
harder
than plain concrete in PSI strength.
How long does it take to do a job? From 2 to 5 days depending on the condition of the concrete, size of the job etc.
Does the pool have to be drained?
No, the pool should be full. We apply bubble wrap to the surface when we apply
our coping treatment to prevent too much material from getting in the water.
If
we are refinishing the pool interior, we do the deck work first and then the
pool
finish is applied to the pool.
How do you treat deco drains or expansion joints?
All existing joints should remain in place. We cover them with masking tape and
then remove this before the stain is applied.
Is it Kool Deck?
No!
Will pool water stain the Wondercrete?
No!
Will Wondercrete fade?
Everything fades in direct sunlight. Our color stain is applied in two light
coats, using the best stain available.
Can you correct
drainage and low
areas?
We can improve drainage, however, the degree of success depends on the pitch
of the concrete surrounding the low area in questions. If we can't completely
eliminate
a low area or "bird bath" as they are called, we can drill small drainage holes
with a 1/2" drill bit. The hole is then blown out underground with the wand of
a pressure washer to create a cavity for the water to drain properly.
How do you treat
cracks in the concrete prior to the Wondercrete application?
We apply our stainless steel staples which are unique to our company. After trying
all the other procedures currently in use, we found that the cracks were reoccurring
much too easily. These methods included the use of urethane, epoxy and fiber
mesh. Our method is different from the others in that a stainless steel staple
is
actually
imbedded
into the slab at a 45 degree angle and then covered with a special concrete mixture
to insure a good bond. This innovative method has proven so successful and is
now patent pending!
What if something happens to my deck after my warranty expires?
Wondercrete is easily and inexpensively repairable to its original state.
Can you apply Wondercrete to a driveway?
Yes, it can be applied to a concrete drive surface but not to asphalt due to the movement and great temperature variations asphalt is subject to.
Can you apply Wondercrete to steps or walls?
Wondercrete can be applied to steps including treads and risers. It can also
be applied to walls and ceilings.
Can Wondercrete be applied to my coping?
Yes!
Can I put a different color on my coping than the rest of the deck?
Yes!
What is the guarantee?
There is a 5 year guarantee for Wondercrete against bond failure, flaking and
peeling.
How does the price of a Wondercrete application compare with removing and replacing the concrete?
Wondercrete is about 50% less than the cost of removing and replacing the concrete.
And
it looks much better than plain concrete!
What is the cost per square foot?
It varies according the conditions of the existing surface, coping treatment is
anywhere from $400 to $600 depending on the size of the pool and the existing
coping style.
How do I clean my Wondercrete?
Take a 5 gallon bucket and add 1 cup bleach and 1 cup of Tide detergent, then
fill with water. Using a push broom, distribute this mixture on the deck, Let
it
stand
for
1
hour
and
then hose off for a brand new look!
